JAMES PERRI A.K.A. JIMI POL O
Singer, Musician, Songwriter, Composer, Producer and DJ.
I started my career in Chicago as one of the pioneers of Chicago house
scene. With the songs of Libra Libra, and Jeanette Thomas – “Shake Your
Body” is a cult classic in Chicago and New York.
As the house movement was becoming big in the UK, I moved to London,
where my major classics were published and I became major influential artist
on the European dance scene.
Many producers like Fatboy Slim, DJ Sasha, and Blur, have sampled my
single “Better Days”. My other classic “Express Yourself”, signed by Paul
Oakenfold’s Perfecto Records label is still played by many DJs and was
included on Ministry of Sounds 20th anniversary box set in 2011.
I was recognized by Nellie Hooper & Jazzie B, leaders of British R&B band
Soul II Soul, with whom I was signed to for two years and had worldwide
success where we won a Grammy.
I was also a mentor to Adamski who wrote Seal’s first song “Killer”, which was
dedicated to me for my support, which was then covered by George
Michael in the ‘90s.
After London, I lived in Paris where I collaborated with Martin Solveig on
“Come To Me” and with Guyman of Daft Punk on “If You Give Me The Love I
Want” as well as with David Guetta on his album “Blaster”, his first CD.
I also lived in Italy for five years performing in iconic clubs. Recently I worked
on a remix of my classic “Shake Your Body” with Kenny Dope (Masters at
Work). Then onto Croatia, where I teamed up with Boris Durdevic (AKA) Eric
Destler from Colonia to produce the song “Magic”.
As a DJ and singer I am always welcomed in different clubs through Europe
giving the audience unique experienced sound, full of rhythm and good
vibrations.
My track “Better Days” has been remixed and has radio support by Pete
Tong and Anne Mac from BBC.
I have produced music for Ruth Brown and Dj Paul Newman in London at
Mickey Simms studio Vanguard.
I was working on an opera and film score with Justin Berkmann, founder of
Ministry of sound, and Simon Duffy, for the author Gregory David Roberts
(Shantaram) The name of the opera and film is called “The Mountain
Shadow”.
I have done my second film score entitled “14 Barriers” (“14 prepreka”) a
Croatian Film directed by Srecko Karic.
I have also created Vagabond music label with Robert Cesljas in Croatia,
where the label releases music in a wide range of genres.
Recently I worked on Norman Beaker blues album, a true blues legend.
Norman has been inducted into the blues hall of fame. The album was
recorded in Croatia and produced by Leo Baltazar.
